Detailed Information
Gas Oven
The gas grill and burners need to be lit with either matches or lighter provided. To light the burners, turn on the corresponding knob and hold the lighter over the burner. To light the grill, remove the tray and aim lighter at the centre of the roof of the grill. To light the stove, turn temperature gauge on and simply click the stove ignition knob. Always remember to turn the gas knobs off after use.
Wood Stove
A well lit fire is all you’ll need to stay warm in winter, as the walls and roof are well insulated. Please note that firewood is provided only from April to September. You are welcome to bring your own firewood in the warmer months if you would like a fire for the ambience.
Barbeque
The BBQ is available for you to use on the eastern verandah. You will need to turn the gas on at the cylinder. Use the lighter in the kitchen to light the BBQ. Please turn off after use. Please clean the BBQ after use and do not attempt to move it.
Composting Toilet
The environmently friendly composting toilet is water free. Always keep the toilet seat closed when not in use. An inbuilt fan keeps the odours away. A cup full of saw dust and a sprinkle of wood ash, from the containers next to the toilet, need to be added every day to help everything breakdown. Do not put foodscraps of any kind in the toilet. Please use the bin provided for sanitary and cosmetic products.
Rainwater
Rainwater is stored in the tank next to the carpark for the cottage and is gravity fed down for use in the kitchen and bathroom. The water is untreated but safe for drinking.
